Vindex: to answer for what you make.
In archaic Roman law, the vindex stepped in on someone else's behalf and carried the risk of doing so. From that figure we take something more important than a name: the idea that putting your signature on something means answering for it.
The emblem
An emblem of responsibility.
The emblem brings together the shield, the sword and the V. The shield stands for protection and responsibility; the sword recalls Gaius Julius Vindex, the Roman governor who rose against Nero in the year 68. They are references to an origin, not a decorative theme: the language of Vindex belongs to the present.

Vindex is built around lines with continuity, not isolated launches. Civis is the first: an essential architecture developed in 39 and 36 mm. Aeternum gathers closed-series projects in which history, materials and construction answer to one concrete idea. The intention is for every new reference to widen the language of Vindex without breaking it.

Design
Every reference has to have a reason to exist. Proportions, materials and details are part of a language that should be recognisable and able to continue.
Responsibility
We say what we can stand behind. Every reference has a protocol of its own, and every unit ships tied to the results that belong to it.
Provenance
A watch begins before it reaches a wrist. Its reference, number, origin, checks and interventions are part of the piece and should be able to stay with it.
Continuity
We design with what happens after the sale in mind: maintenance, repair, service, and a history that can go on being documented over the years.
Scale
We don't want to make thousands of watches or to be everywhere. Every series is short because every unit is assembled and checked one at a time. For Vindex, growing means learning: trying materials, designs and finishes from one series to the next, not multiplying units.

The idea
Vindex was born from a love of watchmaking: the wish to make watches of our own, without rushing, with an identity you can recognize.

The first watch
Civis turned that idea into a piece: a mechanical architecture for daily wear, developed in two proportions.

The Standard
We defined a protocol for the reference and an individual record for every unit.
- 04
The pre-series
The first Civis units, a short pre-series, are on their way to their first owners. The public list opens in the first half of 2027.
