Why we started this

We wanted an automatic you could actually check: to know which checks a specific watch had passed before buying it. We could not find one, so we decided to make one.

The idea fits in one sentence: test and document every piece, and tell exactly how and why. If the value is in the work, the logical thing is to show the work.

The name sets the bar. Vindex is an ancient Latin word for the one who defends, protects or answers for another. This brand practices it at its own scale: it stands behind the idea that an honest mechanical watch can be checked.

This is a build diary. We will tell the story here as it happens, including what goes sideways along the way.
