Why a PT5000
For the Solum we chose an automatic mechanical caliber, and we chose the PT5000 on purpose.
It follows the architecture of the ETA 2824-2, one of the most widespread and best documented designs in watchmaking: 28,800 beats per hour, hacking seconds, hand winding and a date. No battery: it winds from the motion of your wrist.
That very common architecture is the decision that matters. Spare parts are standard and any watchmaker knows it, so maintenance does not depend on us or on an in-house service department.
It is not the most expensive or the most exotic caliber. It is one that can be measured, regulated and maintained, and whatever we measure on each unit will go into its report.
